Pisilli: I Never…

Niccolò Pisilli has been recovering from a calf injury for the past few weeks, and Roma is being cautious with his treatment.

This injury, being in a sensitive area of the leg, requires careful attention and a few more days for complete recovery to prevent any setbacks. As Pisilli stated today, “I’m focused on my return; I should be fully fit in about a week.”

He will be ready to contribute once again starting next week.

In the meantime, the Giallorossi midfielder addressed the media from his training camp in Wales, clarifying that he has never contemplated leaving Roma: “My commitment has always been to Roma. The thought of leaving never crossed my mind. Back in January, my agent and I discussed my limited playing time, and we considered alternatives, but ultimately everything worked out well for both me and the team, and I couldn’t be happier.”

Discussing the rigorous training regimen under coach Gasperini, Pisilli, who is participating in his second consecutive training camp with the Grugliasco-born coach, remarked: “The coach remains consistent; he pushes us hard. Since the beginning, we’ve had double training sessions, and we’ve often been staying at Trigoria because our aim is to be fully prepared for the league and the Champions League. We’re putting in a lot of effort.”

Pisilli also talked about his versatility on the field, as Gasperini has deployed him as both a defensive and central midfielder: “What matters most are the ideas rather than the system or specific position. It’s essential that I play and perform to the best of my ability. The tactical concepts from the coaches are what truly make a difference. Whether I’m positioned 10 meters further forward with more freedom to advance or starting deeper and pushing up to score, the key lies in understanding those ideas and maintaining proper balance.”
