Real Madrid is poised to experience significant transformations in the coming years, as President Florentino Perez plans to revamp the club’s organizational structure. He is also considering appointing a new CEO, which would shift considerable authority within the club.
Currently, Perez holds all the power at Real Madrid, relying on General Manager Jose Angel Sanchez and Juni Calafat for support on football-related matters. According to reports from MD, Perez is looking into the possibility of creating a CEO position, mainly focused on the financial aspects of the organization as the club gears up for a restructuring phase.

Two Leading Contenders for the Real Madrid CEO Role
The frontrunner for the CEO position is a familiar name for those closely following Los Blancos: Anas Laghrari. The Moroccan banker has played a crucial role in securing several deals for Real Madrid, including a partnership with Sixth Street for the redevelopment of the Santiago Bernabeu. Laghrari serves as an advisor to Perez and was deeply involved in both the restructuring plan and the Super League proposal. His main competitor for the role is Carlos Ocana, currently Vice-President of Spanish media company Telefonica and an aide to Angel Sanchez at Real Madrid.

Upcoming Restructuring at Real Madrid
Over the past 18 months, Perez has hinted at plans to modify the ownership model of Real Madrid. While specifics remain unclear, the strategy involves selling a portion of the club (5-10%) to outside investors and converting current members into shareholders. These proposals will require approval from the majority of members through a referendum.
As Perez approaches his 79th birthday next March, he may be nearing the end of his presidency. The decisions made in this transitional period could have a significant impact on Real Madrid’s trajectory for decades to come.
