Borussia Dortmund clinched second place in the standings with a crucial 2-1 comeback victory against Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday night.
Dortmund’s Resilient Comeback
Can Uzun gave Albert Riera’s team an early lead with a stunning curling shot into the bottom corner just two minutes into the match. Shortly thereafter, Michael Zetterer made a key save to stop Dortmund’s Samuele Inacio from equalizing, as the Italian forward’s header from close range was directed straight at the Eintracht keeper.

Farès Chaïbi and Ritsu Dōan attempted to extend Eintracht’s advantage, but it was Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy who leveled the score with his 16th goal of the season, thanks to a pinpoint cross from Julian Ryerson, who assisted for the 14th time this season. Guirassy managed to find space ahead of Robin Koch before finishing decisively.
Nico Schlotterbeck then scored a brilliant goal in stoppage time of the first half, curling his shot inside the far post to put Dortmund ahead.
Inacio Nets First Goal for Dortmund
Ryerson had a chance to extend Dortmund’s lead but saw his shot saved by Zetterer from 10 yards out. Uzun then tested Gregor Kobel, who made a notable save to deny the Turkish international.

Samuele Inacio then delivered the decisive blow for Frankfurt by volleying home from close range after being left unmarked in the six-yard box, converting a cross from Maximilian Beier, solidifying Niko Kovač’s grip on second place over RB Leipzig, despite a late goal from Jonathan Burkardt.
