Real Madrid’s Copa del Rey round of 32 match against Talavera will be memorable not just for the victory, but for the poignant moments it provided for the club’s academy.

One of the most inspiring narratives was that of David Jimenez, who finally made his debut with the first team after an incredible 13 years in Real Madrid’s youth system.
After the game, the young defender was visibly moved as he reflected on achieving this milestone. He expressed his emotions by saying, “I could be the happiest kid in the world.”
“It’s a dream realized. I want to thank the coach, the coaching staff, and all my teammates for their warm welcome,” he added.
Nervous Yet Excited
Jimenez acknowledged that feeling nervous was unavoidable at the start. Debuting for Real Madrid in a competitive knockout match is seldom a tranquil experience.

The evening concluded with a personal keepsake that he will cherish forever. His teammates signed his match jersey, a gesture that emphasized the camaraderie within the squad.
Jimenez plans to frame it in his room “so I can see it every day,” using the shirt as a constant reminder of a dream fulfilled.
Jorge Cestero Steps Up
Jimenez was not the only academy player to experience this milestone. Jorge Cestero, another graduate from La Fabrica, also debuted with the first team.
