Real Madrid defender…

Real Madrid has confirmed the medical diagnosis for Ferland Mendy. The French defender was substituted during the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 against Manchester City at the Santiago Bernabéu after experiencing discomfort on the field.

Club medical staff conducted tests and determined that Mendy has a muscle injury to the biceps femoris in his right leg.

While the official medical statement from Real Madrid did not specify a recovery timeline, previous reports indicated that he could be sidelined for about a week.

Mendy May Be Out Longer

However, according to AS, there is a possibility that Mendy’s absence could extend beyond the upcoming international break.

As such, Mendy will miss tomorrow’s La Liga match against Elche, as well as the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 against Manchester City next week.

Additionally, his participation in the Madrid derby against Atletico Madrid on March 22 also remains uncertain.

This match will be Los Blancos’ final fixture before the international break, suggesting that Mendy may have to wait until after this window for his return.

Mendy had started the match against Manchester City, delivering a commendable defensive display as he managed to contain players like Savinho and Antoine Semenyo effectively.

Unfortunately, he could not continue, leading coach Alvaro Arbeloa to substitute him for Fran Garcia.

This performance followed a strong showing in La Liga against Celta Vigo, which marked his first game under Arbeloa. Mendy will be hopeful for a swift recovery so that he can return to the pitch as soon as possible.
