Real Madrid will host Atletico Madrid this Sunday before a crucial two-week break, although many players will be away on international duty. Among them are Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham, both returning from injury setbacks.
Mbappe made his comeback in midweek against Manchester City after a three-week absence due to a knee issue, while Bellingham is still recovering from a hamstring injury that sidelined him in early February. Despite their injury histories, both players have been called up for friendly matches during the international break, leading to understandable frustration from Real Madrid.
According to Sport, Real Madrid is feeling “nervous and angry” about the selections of Mbappe and Bellingham. Neither player is at full fitness, and their involvement with the national teams could lead to a risk of re-injury.
Real Madrid Particularly Concerned About Bellingham’s Call-Up
While Mbappe’s selection is more justifiable given his recent return to play, the decision to call up Bellingham is much more questionable, especially since he has yet to return to action after suffering a hamstring tear nearly two months ago.
Real Madrid is perplexed by Bellingham’s inclusion in the England squad for the upcoming break. Although head coach Thomas Tuchel has assured that no risks will be taken, the club would prefer Bellingham to stay in Madrid for the next two weeks to facilitate his recovery and preparation for the season’s final stretch.
As the international break approaches, Real Madrid is anxiously hoping for both Mbappe and Bellingham to return without any injuries.
