Real Madrid nearing one

Real Madrid nearing one

Real Madrid faces significant transfer decisions regarding their defense next summer, particularly as two center-backs will be out of contract and a notable signing is anticipated.

David Alaba is expected to depart in June, but the scenario surrounding Antonio Rudiger is different as he approaches the final months of his contract.

Unlike Alaba, the club recognizes the value of Rudiger’s performance, with El Mundo reporting that the club intends to reward his commitment and hard work with a new contract.

Current plans for Rudiger

Typically, Real Madrid hesitates to renew contracts for veterans, especially those nearing the end of their careers. However, at 33, Rudiger may be seen as an exception.

The German international has demonstrated his ability to be a crucial player on the pitch, which the club values during this challenging period. Additionally, they appreciate his dedication and passion for the team’s crest.

Rudiger pushed himself to the limit last season, even playing through a knee injury for Real Madrid, which ultimately required surgery during the summer.

Though he missed part of the current season’s beginning, he has recently returned to being the standout defender in the squad.

The club prioritizes his renewal, although it may not be at the same salary as before. Nevertheless, Rudiger is more focused on his commitment to Real Madrid than the financial aspects of the deal, eager to contribute as long as possible.

Currently, discussions indicate that both parties are close to finalizing a one-year contract renewal, with an agreement expected soon.

Real Madrid will be pleased to keep their key defensive unit intact, including Rudiger, Eder Militao, Dean Huijsen, and Raul Asencio.
