As reported by journalist Alberto Pereiro, Real Madrid’s management has decided to postpone the official introduction of their newly appointed manager, José Mourinho, until after the ongoing FIFA World Cup.
This strategic delay is closely linked to the upcoming release of his highly anticipated Netflix documentary series, ‘MOURINHO,’ which is set to premiere on August 11, 2026.

The plan is to allow Mourinho to determine the timing of his official unveiling to the media.
The cinematic culmination
The multi-part documentary series, produced by Ventureland, has been filmed over the last two years to chronicle the 63-year-old’s renowned and controversial 20-year managerial career.
According to the report, the documentary’s climax will feature exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of Mourinho’s grand second presentation at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Since the media presentation serves as the grand finale for the streaming project, the public introduction will be intentionally delayed until all production wraps are finalized.

As such, Real Madrid has opted not to announce a specific date for the presentation, even though Mourinho’s appointment was made public weeks ago.
Club president Florentino Perez and the senior board members fully support Mourinho’s choice regarding this timeline.
Pre-Season continues as planned
Although the formal presentation is still uncertain, the team’s preparations are on track.
Mourinho officially returned to the Valdebebas training complex today, July 13, to kick off Real Madrid’s pre-season.
Despite expressing a desire for his World Cup-bound players to return as soon as possible to address significant issues such as locker room discipline, he is already working intensively with the available squad members for the upcoming season.

Currently, Real Madrid has announced two pre-season friendly matches: one against Fiorentina in Austria, and the other against newly-promoted La Liga team Deportivo La Coruna in the Teresa Herrera Trophy.
Additionally, the club is expected to schedule two more friendly games as Mourinho seeks to evaluate the players at his disposal.
