Real Madrid Not Surprised
According to AS, there’s no surprise among Real Madrid staff regarding Thiago’s ascent to the first team.
His energy and talent had already caught the eye of former coach Xabi Alonso during training. However, his debut took time to materialize, with 11 call-ups that didn’t see him step onto the pitch, along with some brief returns to the reserve team.
Everything changed in the match against Benfica, where he finally came on as a late substitute, followed by more significant minutes in the second leg of the knockout round.
Last Monday, Thiago made his first start against Getafe, filling in for the injured Eduardo Camavinga, and left a strong impression. This earned him another starting spot against Celta Vigo on Friday, where he once again excelled.

Thiago’s impressive rise has been partly fueled by the team’s injury struggles, yet it’s evident that he has been a talent waiting to be unleashed. Those at Valdebebas have sensed his potential for months.
“He just needed a push,” insiders say. With the opportunity now presented, there’s a strong belief within the club that this is “just the beginning.”
Thiago’s playing time has progressively increased, and his performances have resonated with the fans. When he was substituted against Getafe, the Bernabeu crowd expressed their discontent with whistles.
Behind the scenes, his dynamic display against Benfica received praise from the club’s top executives.
All of this enhances his prospects of starting against Manchester City in the forthcoming Champions League clash.
