Recent reports from Tuesday indicate rising concerns in Argentina regarding Nico Paz’s health. According to updates from Italy, the national team is exerting pressure on Como to bench him during their pivotal Serie A match this weekend.
Update: Argentina advises against Nico Paz’s participation in Cremonese vs. Como
Nico Paz was omitted from the matchday squad for Como’s 1-0 win over Parma in Serie A last Sunday. Prior to this match, the Argentina international had played in every league game he was available for, missing only one due to a yellow card suspension.

Before the game against Parma, Fabregas confirmed Paz’s absence due to a knee injury, suggesting that the attacking midfielder might miss the final two Serie A games of the season.
“Nico Paz is injured and will not participate against Parma. He has a knee knock. If the match were on Monday, the situation might be different, but honestly, I can’t guarantee he’ll play in the last match. I hope he can, but I’m not sure.”
Como has one final Serie A game left, away against Cremonese at 19:45 BST on Sunday, which will determine their qualification for either the Champions League or Europa League next season.

Currently, Como is positioned fifth in the Serie A standings, just two points behind Roma, who are in fourth place, as they approach the final fixtures of the 2025-26 season. For Como to qualify for the Champions League, Roma would need to lose points against Fiorentina.
While Fabregas and Como certainly want their star player available, reports from Calciomercato.com suggest that the Argentina national team is applying pressure for Como to keep the 21-year-old out of the lineup this weekend.
This is due to Paz being a strong contender for Lionel Scaloni’s final 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup in North America, which is set to start in a few weeks.

As per reports from ESPN Argentina, the national team plans to send medical personnel to Italy to evaluate Paz’s injury and overall condition. They believe the injury isn’t severe but are wary that it could worsen if he takes another hit against Cremonese this weekend.
