After leaving Marseille, Roberto De Zerbi has emerged as the leading candidate to take over as the permanent manager of Tottenham Hotspur, as reported by Fabrizio Romano. The club is considering the Italian coach as their top choice for the role, pending Igor Tudor’s departure from his interim position.
De Zerbi, who previously managed Brighton, ended his tenure at Stade Vélodrome in February after Olympique de Marseille was eliminated from the UEFA Champions League. He has been without a club since then, despite being linked to various positions, including the Tottenham role after the exit of Thomas Frank.
De Zerbi an option only if Spurs avoid relegation
Tottenham is currently facing a relegation battle, sitting just one point above the drop zone. De Zerbi would only consider accepting the managerial post if the team manages to stay in the Premier League. Consequently, discussions are expected to take place in June, following the resolution of their fate.
