The Rangers have signed former Netherlands youth defender Mijke Roelfsema, an experienced and “composed” player, after the 28-year-old’s departure from Nantes in France’s top league.
Roelfsema has signed a two-year deal with Rangers. She joined Nantes in January from Treaty United in Ireland, but unfortunately, she did not get any playing time with the team that finished fourth in Ligue 1.

Rangers head coach Leanne Crichton expressed her enthusiasm about the new signing on the club’s website, stating: “She’s a composed defender who possesses excellent game awareness, is at ease with the ball, and exhibits leadership qualities both on and off the field.”
Roelfsema’s career path has taken her from teams like Schoonhoven and Den Haag to playing at Rice University in the US and for Calgary Foothills in Canada. She then began her professional career with Appollon Ladies in Cyprus and later moved to Danish club Fodbold before her stint with Treaty.
Both Crichton and Roelfsema are optimistic that her diverse experiences will positively impact Rangers.
“Having played for various clubs, I’ve gained a wealth of experience. As I’ve matured, I’ve become eager to join a club aspiring for championship titles. I wanted to be part of a solid team with a good setup, and this opportunity feels just right,” Roelfsema remarked.
