Cristiano Ronaldo scored the opening goal as Al Nassr defeated Al Ahli 2-0 on Wednesday, strengthening their lead in the title race with their 20th consecutive victory.
With this win, Al Nassr extended their lead from eight points to 11 at the top of the table, getting closer to clinching the championship. Ronaldo’s impressive performance saw him net his 25th goal of the league season.
After a goalless first 75 minutes, the Portuguese superstar expertly headed Joao Felix’s inswinging corner into the top corner of the net.
The ball nestled just inside the post, leaving former Chelsea goalkeeper Édouard Mendy with no chance. Ronaldo celebrated enthusiastically with Felix and his teammates at the corner flag.
Kingsley Coman sealed the victory in the 90th minute with a powerful shot after Al Ahli failed to clear another corner.
Al Nassr’s remarkable winning streak now stands at 20 matches, including 16 in the league, with just four matches remaining in the domestic season. Al Ahli, with one last game left, seems unlikely to catch up.
This goal marks Ronaldo’s third consecutive league season scoring 25 or more goals—the first time he has achieved this since an impressive nine seasons from 2009-10 to 2017-18.
With nine goals in his last nine matches, Ronaldo has now accumulated 970 career goals across club and international play, tallying 126 goals for Al Nassr in all competitions. He currently trails the Saudi Pro League top scorer Ivan Toney by just two goals this season.
