Salah: Cried more than in…

Mohamed Salah revealed that he “cried more than in [his] whole life” during his final appearance for Liverpool, expressing pride in “winning it all” at Anfield.

Salah was substituted in the 73rd minute of Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against Brentford, visibly emotional as fans serenaded him after the match concluded.

Teammate Andy Robertson also received a warm farewell from the Anfield crowd ahead of his own departure this summer, with both players playing a pivotal role in the club’s achievements over the past nine years.

“I think I cried more than in my whole life,” Salah told Sky Sports. “I’m not exactly an emotional person. We’ve grown up here together, sharing everything from the start to the end. We restored this club to its rightful place. [Robertson] is well-loved because he gives everything on the pitch. The fans appreciate him for that.”

“Leaving Liverpool is tough. He has been crucial for the team during our time together. It’s an honor to share a dressing room with him. I feel incredibly blessed to be part of that.”

Both Salah and Robertson arrived at Liverpool during the 2017 transfer window, collectively securing a Champions League title and two Premier League trophies.

Despite a tumultuous final season for Salah, the Anfield faithful showed no signs of resentment towards him on this poignant day.

His controversies earlier in the season, including remarks about feeling “thrown under the bus” by the club in December 2025 and calls for a return to “heavy metal football” in May, did not overshadow the farewell.

However, Salah reflected on the fulfillment of his time at Liverpool.

“Life moves on. I look back and wonder if I could have achieved more; honestly, I don’t think so. We’ve celebrated it all together. The love from the fans is what matters most to me,” Salah said.

“Though I may be far away, I will always feel emotional. I hope the team continues to fight for success.”

Robertson, whose next club remains undecided, shared thoughts on the intense title battles against Manchester City under Pep Guardiola, who also left the club on that day.

“I’m emotionally spent,” Robertson admitted. “This week has been hectic, trying to manage my emotions while saying farewell to those I need to. Guardiola has pushed us to our limits. We could have won more Premier League titles without him in our way.

“Seamus Coleman is departing Everton, and he’s been an outstanding servant for that club. In the years to come, we’ll both be welcomed back to this football club. This is just a significant chapter for us, but it’s not the end. For now, we must focus on the World Cup; this is our family and we’ll always find a home here.”
