Scotsman Striker: Rangers…

According to a recent report from The Herald, Rangers are closely monitoring Kieron Bowie and have requested updates from his representatives regarding any transfer news involving the Hibernian striker. They face competition from Old Firm rivals Celtic, as well as several clubs in the English Championship who are interested in acquiring his services.

The 23-year-old Scotland international started his career at Glenrothes Strollers, moved through the ranks at Fife Elite FA and Raith Rovers, and made his senior debut with Raith in Scottish League One. Bowie later joined Fulham on a free transfer, though he was loaned to Northampton Town to gain more first-team experience.

In the summer of 2024, Hibs signed him for €700k. Although he spent a significant amount of time sidelined due to a hamstring injury, he managed to score six goals in 18 league appearances during the 2024-25 season. Thus far in the current season, Bowie has netted eight goals and provided three assists in 27 matches, often partnering with Martin Boyle in David Gray’s 5-3-2 setup.

Why Bowie Should Consider a Move This January

Meanwhile, Bowie is in contention for a place in Steve Clarke’s FIFA World Cup squad, and Hibernian is heavily relying on his goal-scoring abilities as they fight for a spot in European competition. Gray will likely want to retain his key player for the rest of the season, and Bowie should weigh his options carefully before considering a transfer to Ibrox. With Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski currently occupying the forward positions, his playing time might be limited. Nonetheless, Rangers should remain persistent in their pursuit, especially with several players, including Danilo, being transfer-listed.

How Bowie Could Earn a Starting Role at Rangers

Danilo, who arrived from Feyenoord with high expectations, has faced ongoing injury issues that have hindered his progress. As a result, he has fallen down the pecking order following the signings of Chermiti and Miovski. Given Bowie’s talent and potential, he could not only surpass Danilo in terms of performance but also secure a starting role due to his sharpness and goal-scoring capabilities.

Chermiti has recovered well, recently scoring twice against Celtic at Parkhead, while Miovski has struggled to recreate his previous form from Aberdeen. The forward duo hasn’t matched the flair and productivity seen from Hamza Igiamane and Cyriel Dessers. Although securing Bowie in the winter transfer window may be challenging, Rangers should consider meeting Hibs’ asking price of £6.5m for their star striker.
