Reports suggest that a second star is poised to choose Liverpool over Manchester City. The Reds need to finalize this deal swiftly.
During the summer transfer window, Liverpool managed to outmaneuver Manchester City by signing Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen. Despite City and Bayern Munich also vying for the talented midfielder, Liverpool’s successful acquisition took many by surprise.

The decision ultimately rested with Wirtz, who opted for Liverpool, turning down offers from Bayern and City in favor of a move to Merseyside.
This transfer marked a significant victory for Liverpool, traditionally not known for competing at the very top tier, as they secured one of the most promising talents in global football while overcoming stiff competition.
In response, City shifted their focus to Ryan Cherki, which is still a commendable option, but it was Liverpool that landed the coveted player. Now, it appears they may have another opportunity to do just that.
Marc Guehi favors a transfer to Liverpool
Marc Guehi is currently one of the most sought-after players as his contract with Crystal Palace nears its conclusion. Numerous elite clubs are interested in acquiring him, either this month or when his deal expires this summer.

Interestingly, expectations were that Guehi would have already joined Liverpool by now, as a deal was nearly finalized until Palace abruptly canceled it at the last moment as the summer window closed.
Liverpool remains keen on securing his services, alongside clubs like City and Arsenal, but it seems Guardiola’s side is currently trailing in his preference.
“On Monday night, a source familiar with the situation at City and possibly Palace indicated that Guehi prefers to stay until summer and has a stronger inclination towards Liverpool,” shared Sam Lee from The Athletic on the Let Me Talk podcast.
“Another individual reached out to me via Twitter, confirming Guehi’s preference for Liverpool and Arsenal. Though I hadn’t heard about Arsenal specifically, that aligns with what I’d learned previously.”

This could be another significant acquisition for Liverpool, who are eager to sign Guehi. While Arsenal poses a challenge, it seems more likely that he would secure a starting role at Anfield sooner.
With Virgil van Dijk approaching his 35th birthday, Guehi could see himself stepping into the role of Liverpool’s primary center-back — a vision he seems to share as well.
