Lazio secured a vital 2-0 win over Cagliari at the Stadio Olimpico, with Gustav Isaksen breaking the deadlock in the second half and Mattia Zaccagni sealing the victory late on.
The home side maintained the upper hand in possession during the first half but faced a solid defense, particularly from Cagliari’s goalkeeper Elia Caprile, who made several key saves, notably denying Adam Marušić’s curling shot while Zaccagni and Toma Bašić came close from close range.
Cagliari, under the guidance of Fabio Pisacane, managed sporadic counter-attacks led by Gianluca Gaetano and Michael Folorunsho, but Lazio’s Ivan Provedel was mostly unchallenged in the first 45 minutes.

After halftime, Lazio intensified their efforts and was rewarded in the 66th minute. Matteo Guendouzi set up Isaksen near the edge of the box, where the Danish winger unleashed a powerful shot into the bottom-left corner to bring Lazio ahead 1-0. The stadium erupted as Isaksen celebrated his first Serie A goal this season.

In the dying minutes, Cagliari pushed for an equalizer, with substitute Mattia Felici sending in several threatening crosses and Michel Adopo testing Provedel from distance, but Lazio’s defense held strong.
To boost the team’s energy, Sarri introduced Pedro and Tijjani Noslin, and Lazio managed to retain their composure throughout the remaining match time.

In stoppage time, a mistake in Cagliari’s defense allowed Zaccagni to capitalize, finishing calmly past Caprile to secure the win for Lazio.
This victory provides a crucial confidence boost for Lazio after a challenging period, propelling them back into the top half of the Serie A standings. Conversely, Cagliari will feel disappointed after another commendable performance without securing any points.
