The Bianconeri’s hopes were dampened over the weekend with a frustrating 1-1 draw against Lecce, but it allowed them to match Roma in joint fourth place.

Jonathan David missed a crucial chance to score, with his weak Panenka penalty easily saved by the keeper.

Despite this, coach Luciano Spalletti is backing the Canadian forward for another starting role, supported by Miretti and Yildiz, while Francisco Conceicao and Lloyd Kelly are sidelined with muscle injuries.

Other players currently unable to play include Dusan Vlahovic, Jonas Rouhi, Federico Gatti, Daniele Rugani, and Arek Milik, leading to Teun Koopmeiners stepping back into the defensive trio.

Sassuolo has emerged as one of the surprises of this season, currently sitting mid-table under coach Fabio Grosso after their Serie B title win last season.

They have already secured notable victories against Lazio, Udinese, Atalanta, and Fiorentina, as well as drawing with Milan and Bologna.

However, legendary player Domenico Berardi remains unavailable, joined on the sidelines by Cristian Volpato, Filippo Romagna, Daniel Boloca, and Edoardo Pieragnolo, while Woyo Coulibaly is participating in the AFCON.

Ismael Koné was rested for the recent local derby against Parma but will return to the starting XI for this match.

The experienced Matic is expected to play a key role in midfield, while former Juventus youth product Tarik Muharemovic continues to excel in defense.

The attacking trio will consist of Edoardo Iannoni, Andrea Pinamonti, and Armand Laurienté, with Alieu Fadera dropping out after an underwhelming performance over the weekend.
