Sidiki Cherif joins…

Newly promoted Coventry City have secured the signing of teenage forward Sidiki Cherif from Turkish side Fenerbahce.

The 19-year-old, born in Guinea and raised in France from the age of five, arrives on a long-term contract. He finished last season with two goals in 12 Super Lig appearances after moving to Fenerbahce from Angers on a loan with an obligation to buy.

Coventry have strongly backed head coach Frank Lampard this window, completing notable deals for Caleb Yirenkyi, Carl Rushworth, Loum Tchaouna, Aurele Amenda and Taiwo Awoniyi, and bringing Gustavo Hamer back to the club.

“I’m delighted to join Coventry City and excited to play in the Premier League,” Cherif said. “I’m eager to show the fans what I can do at our fantastic stadium. I can’t wait to get started.”

Cherif has featured in the Uefa Europa League and appeared in this season’s Uefa Champions League qualifiers before his move to the Coventry Building Society Arena.

He began his career in France and made his senior debut for Angers in 2023-24. Angers earned promotion to Ligue 1 in 2024, and Cherif made a strong start to the 2025-26 campaign, scoring four Ligue 1 goals by the end of December. His form drew interest from clubs across Europe before he completed his switch to Turkey. He has also received call-ups for France’s Under-16 and Under-21 teams.
