We sought your opinions on the potential departure of Bernardo Silva from Manchester City this summer and how the club might find a suitable replacement should he leave.
Here are some of your responses:
Brian: Bernardo Silva has been a remarkable player for City, showcasing incredible attacking talent and close control of the ball. His contribution will leave a legacy of pride and belief in the club’s colors. It feels like the right moment for him to step away as captain, having represented the club with immense loyalty and pride. City will certainly be richer for the time Bernardo has spent with us.

Steve: Watching him play has been a delight, but given his age and desire to return to Portugal, it seems like the right time for him to move on. He has achieved everything here, and it would be wonderful if he could add an FA Cup to his accolades before he leaves.
Cal: We were somewhat prepared for this, unlike the surprises of past departures like Kompany, Aguero, and De Bruyne. Bernardo’s caliber undoubtedly ranks him among those legends. He gives his all, covering every inch of the field. His versatility is impressive; he could even excel as a left-back. It’s undeniable that replacing him will be a challenge, given his unique impact.
Pat: I would be shocked if Bernardo stays, though I would prefer him to remain. He is crucial to the team and consistently makes his presence felt during matches.
Chris: Here’s a hot take – Bernardo hasn’t quite reached his previous peak in the last couple of years. I think Elliot Anderson would be an excellent replacement, but Nico O’Reilly could also fill the role effectively. The back four of Nunes, Dias, Khusanov, and Gvardiol would allow O’Reilly to advance. Additionally, Nico Gonzalez has shown promise whenever given the opportunity.
