Manager Marc Skinner confidently asserts that he is still the right choice for the role at Manchester United, notwithstanding the criticisms he has faced from supporters.
The team suffered a significant setback in their quest for qualification to next season’s Women’s Champions League after a goalless draw against Tottenham last weekend.
As a result, United is currently sitting in fourth place in the Women’s Super League, two points behind Arsenal, with only two matches remaining.
A significant segment of United’s fanbase has raised doubts about Skinner’s position, and the temperature of the debate around his future was raised this week as they prepare for their match against Brighton this Saturday at 12:00 BST.
When asked if he believed he was still the right person for the job, Skinner responded, “Oh, absolutely, absolutely, no doubts. You can see the growth of our team.”
“There have been highs and lows, which is to be expected in any season,” he continued. “We are completely focused on elevating this team to where we aspire to be—we still have work to do.”
“I am fully committed to positioning our team for future success and achieving titles going forward.”
Skinner mentioned that he has received reassurances from the club’s leadership and feels “completely aligned” with the board’s vision.
“Regardless of what others say about me, my focus is on our performances. I have always maintained that stance—honesty and transparency are key for me,” he stated.
“I would willingly place myself back into that position to ensure we return to winning ways. That is my purpose here and my commitment moving forward.”
