Spain claimed a record-extending 10th UEFA Men’s Under-19 title with a 2-0 win over Germany at Wrexham’s Racecourse Ground.
Hugo Lopez and Mario Rivas scored as Spain successfully defended the crown they lifted in 2024.
Paco Gallardo’s side dominated the eight-team event in north Wales over the past two weeks, scoring 19 goals across five matches and not conceding once.
Germany threatened through Otto Stange, who was denied twice by keeper Manu Gonzalez, while Spain’s Daniel Yanez curled a free-kick narrowly wide. Lopez saw a clever lob strike the bar before finally breaking through just before half-time, turning in after Yanez’s deflected effort hit the post. Three minutes into the second half, Rivas doubled the lead with a header from Yanez’s corner.
The win capped a Spanish double after the women’s U19s also beat Germany in the European final earlier on Saturday in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Both finalists, along with semi-finalists Ukraine and Croatia, had already qualified for the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. Denmark, meanwhile, defeated Italy on penalties to reach the inter-confederation play-offs for that tournament.
