Stephan: QPR Lacked…

QPR manager Julien Stephan expressed disappointment after his team struggled to find their rhythm in a 2-0 home loss to Sheffield United in the Championship.

Stephan was particularly frustrated by the disallowed header from Richard Kone, which, if allowed, would have brought the score to 2-1 with 17 minutes remaining.

Speaking to BBC Radio London, he said: “It was a tough result and a tough performance. I’m let down by how we played, especially conceding goals too quickly in the first half.”

“We didn’t start the match with the aggression or intensity we had aimed for. The second half saw some improvement, but we struggled to build strong momentum.”

“We managed to score once, but it should have been 2-1 at that point, which could have completely altered the momentum towards the end of the match.”

“However, I don’t want to attribute the result solely to that decision. It had a significant impact, especially when I compare it to the goal Liverpool scored today, which was nearly identical.”

“There’s a notable discrepancy in decision-making between the Premier League and the Championship. Nonetheless, the outcome reflects our performance; we simply didn’t demonstrate the quality needed for a better result, particularly in terms of intensity and mental resilience.”
