Sutton United, who are currently struggling in the National League, have officially signed goalkeeper Chris Haigh.
The 28-year-old previously made 21 appearances for Chelmsford City in the National League South, where he recorded seven clean sheets. He was also part of the team that won their FA Cup first-round match against Braintree, followed by a second-round elimination by Weston-super-Mare.
In this new chapter, Haigh reunites with his former manager at Worthing, Chris Agutter, after moving to Chelmsford last summer. He will also take on a player-coach position at Gander Green Lane.
Currently, Sutton United is positioned fourth from the bottom of the league, finding themselves in the relegation zone based on goal difference.
Haigh began his football journey at Watford and had a stint at Gillingham before making his way through several non-league sides in the southeast. He played a key role in helping both Ebbsfleet and Oxford City achieve promotion to the National League and was recognized as man of the match at Wembley during the FA Trophy final in 2021 when Concord Rangers faced Harrogate.
