Svilar on Romas season:…

Mile Svilar is currently at the Gran Galà del Calcio in Milan, which celebrates the finest talents in Italian football.

Prior to the start of the ceremony, the Roma goalkeeper shared his thoughts with Sky Sport.

“A year ago, it felt unimaginable to be in this position. We all came together to recover from a challenging period. From a football perspective, it has been a dream year, and my dedication has borne fruit. Gasperini’s influence has been remarkably beneficial,” he stated.

These remarks from the number 99 reflect on the year 2025—a year that also brought him the joy of becoming a father and welcomed Gasperini to the team.

Recently, the Giallorossi faced off against Napoli in front of their passionate supporters, who are dreaming of claiming the Scudetto. Although Roma lost, Svilar remains optimistic: “To secure victories in matches like the one against Napoli, we need to elevate our performance, but we’re on the right track. The championship is long and still wide open; we’re just one point behind the others. We’re improving with each game, and we must keep this momentum going.”

Commenting on Neres’ goal during the match, he said: “I always focus on my own performance, and then we analyze team mistakes collectively. I believed he had no room, yet he managed to find it. Now, we must look ahead.”

The arrival of Gasperini has instilled a new mentality at Trigoria, with training sessions now more challenging than ever. Svilar noted: “For me, things haven’t changed much. The goalkeeping coach remains the same, but the determination evident in the faces of my teammates is striking; I’ve never experienced anything like it; it’s incredibly demanding.”

He concluded by speaking about Daniele De Rossi, the figure who solidified his place in the starting lineup. “To me, he was the most significant coach. However, I can’t delve too deeply into my past coaches. He provided me opportunities that many others before him didn’t, perhaps due to my own errors. He’s not only an exceptional coach but also a remarkable human being.”
