Ted Lassos Dani Rojas…

Cristo Fernández, known for his role as star footballer Dani Rojas in “Ted Lasso,” has taken the leap into professional football by signing with USL Championship team El Paso Locomotive, as announced on Tuesday.

After a two-month trial period with the club, Fernández will trade the screen for the pitch, stepping into the role of forward just like his character on the show.

Locomotive coach Junior Gonzalez expressed excitement over the signing, stating, “Cristo is a fantastic addition to our roster, bringing another attacking option to our team. His passion for the game and leadership skills will help us foster the positive culture we aim for as a club.”

Fernández shared his thoughts on the move: “Fútbol has always been an integral part of my life and identity. No matter where my journey has taken me, the dream of competing professionally has always remained in my heart. I’m truly thankful to El Paso Locomotive FC—the club, coaches, staff, and especially my teammates—for giving me this opportunity right from the start.”

Prior to his acting career, Fernández played at the youth level for Mexican club Tecos FC, but he had to step away at the age of 15 due to an injury.

Now, at El Paso, he aims to help the team enhance their performance as they currently sit in fourth place in the Western Conference, with four wins, two draws, and three losses under their belt.
