Barcelona 2-0 Real Madrid
Barcelona secured their title as the 2025-26 La Liga champions on Sunday, triumphing over Real Madrid in El Clasico at Spotify Camp Nou.
Following the unfortunate passing of Hansi Flick’s father just before kick-off, the coach made two substitutions from the previous week’s victory against Osasuna, bringing in Marcus Rashford and Ferran Torres. It was Rashford who delivered the opening blow, expertly curling in a stunning free-kick from just outside the area that returning Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois could not reach.

Just ten minutes later, Barcelona extended their lead to 2-0. A brilliant team effort saw Fermin Lopez played a clever ball into Dani Olmo, whose backheel pass perfectly set up Torres to find the back of the net, leaving Courtois helpless.
Real Madrid sought to respond quickly after going two goals down, with Vinicius Junior trying to create some danger, but opportunities were few and far between for Alvaro Arbeloa’s side, particularly with striker Kylian Mbappe sidelined by injury. Instead, it was Barcelona who nearly added a third, but Torres saw his close-range shot brilliantly saved by Courtois.
The second half at Spotify Camp Nou was relatively uneventful, with few incidents aside from some heated exchanges between players from both teams. In truth, Real Madrid rarely looked threatening, and Barcelona’s clean sheet was the cherry on top, bringing goalkeeper Joan Garcia one step closer to securing the Zamora Trophy.
Champions Celebrate
Barcelona has established themselves as the dominant force in La Liga this season. While they faced disappointment in the Champions League and Copa del Rey, they can take immense pride in their league performance.
