The Tide Has Shifted……

Just when it appeared that the Spurs were destined to sink, Roberto De Zerbi has come to the rescue.

De Zerbi’s recent work with the Spurs team is not complicated. Players lacking confidence need reminders of their strengths. Those struggling need straightforward, encouraging guidance. Premier League players facing relegation need a strong leader to guide them.

That said, let’s give credit where it’s due. De Zerbi has united the team in a way reminiscent of Ange Postecoglou’s inspiring speech before last year’s Europa League final, and at last, we are benefiting from a much-needed managerial uplift.

The Italian coach is unlocking the potential of his squad. Notably, Conor Gallagher and Joao Palhinha demonstrated impressive resolve against Aston Villa, playing an essential role in our midfield control last Sunday.

Up front, ‘Relegation Richarlison’ embraced the chance to exert himself and netted a goal as our sole striker in the absence of the injured Dominic Solanke.

Even Randal Kolo Muani, who has had difficulty finding form, delivered one of his standout performances of the season.

Listening to our match against Villa on the radio, I was struck by the relentless pressing of our players, matched only by the enthusiastic support from our fans in the away section.

This connection between players and supporters was palpable, with fans reciprocating the players’ positive display with cheers as we dominated the game. Just as misery thrives on company, joy is equally contagious, energizing our players.

As the away fans celebrated with rousing chants of “Tottenham away, ole ole,” De Zerbi will undoubtedly be pondering how to replicate this performance at home.

While we may have turned a corner, there’s still work to be done to ensure we’re out of danger.
