Thomson Appointed as Head…

Hearts, the champions of the Scottish Women Premier League, have appointed Andy Thomson as their new head coach, taking over from Eva Olid.

The 55-year-old Thomson previously served as the assistant coach for the Rangers women’s team since early 2025.

In his new role, he succeeds Spanish coach Olid, who guided Hearts to their first title triumph in the women’s top flight during her final game.

As a former player, Thomson enjoyed a forward career with clubs such as Queen of the South, Partick Thistle, Falkirk, Stenhousemuir, and four teams in England, including Queens Park Rangers.

He transitioned into coaching with the men’s team at the University of Strathclyde and has also worked with Caledonian Braves and the University of Stirling.

Thomson assisted Shelley Kerr during her time with the Scotland women’s national team and later held a position as football development manager at Motherwell.

Hearts will kick off their title defense in the SWPL in mid-August.
