Oxford United manager Matt Bloomfield expressed his disappointment following the team’s 3-1 loss to Sheffield United, sharing his thoughts with BBC Radio Oxford. “We took the lead, and even though we didn’t dominate possession, we felt confident in our defensive shape. We defended well, so it was frustrating to concede those goals,” he remarked.
He noted that Sheffield United capitalized on their chances, stating, “If you look at the statistics, they had three shots on target and scored three goals.”
Bloomfield praised his players for their dedication: “The team is giving their all, and I’m incredibly proud of their work rate, effort, and discipline on the pitch.”
He acknowledged that the team has been facing punishment for minor mistakes but is optimistic about overcoming these challenges. “We’re in a tough league, but we believe we can fight our way out of this situation, and we will do so through determination and hard work.”
