As of now, three goalkeepers rank among the top 10 Italian players in Serie A, with Federico Dimarco emerging as the standout Azzurri player in the league.
According to average player ratings from Italian sports publications (via Fantacalcio), Dimarco currently leads among Italian performers in Serie A.

Dimarco, a defender for Inter, is a key member of Gennaro Gattuso’s Italy squad, which is set to compete against Northern Ireland in the World Cup playoff semifinal in March 2026.
Worryingly, three goalkeepers are featured in the top 10 Italian players from weeks 1 to 16: Wladimiro Falcone of Lecce (2nd), Elia Caprile of Cagliari (3rd), and Ivan Provedel of Lazio (10th).

The limited number of eligible Serie A players for the national team has been a recurring concern brought up by both Gattuso and FIGC President Gabriele Gravina. As shown by the rankings below, the pool of outfield players available is particularly scarce.
One promising talent that has emerged this season is Marco Palestra of Cagliari, who is on loan from Atalanta and ranks among the top five performers thus far.
