Mudryk joined Chelsea from Shakhtar in 2023 for an initial £61m, having drawn interest from several European clubs, including Arsenal.
After catching the eye in the Champions League during the first half of 2022-23, he needed time to adjust to a new league and country.
His first Chelsea goal didn’t arrive until October 2023, and he finished his first full season at Stamford Bridge with seven goals and four assists.
By the start of 2024-25, the manager who had brought him in, Graham Potter, had been succeeded in turn by Frank Lampard, Mauricio Pochettino and then Enzo Maresca.
Mudryk initially struggled to earn Premier League starts under Maresca but was influential in the UEFA Conference League when, in October 2024, he underwent an out-of-competition test while on Ukraine duty.
He was provisionally suspended after an adverse finding for the banned substance meldonium.
The FA subsequently issued the maximum four-year ban, which he appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
On 31 July 2026, he became eligible to return to competition immediately after the FA confirmed the anti-doping proceedings had been resolved, with Mudryk accepting an anti-doping rule violation and agreeing to a suspension equal to the time already served.
Mudryk, who has consistently said he never knowingly or intentionally took a prohibited substance, said he was grateful to resume playing after the most difficult spell of his career.
He will now restart his career at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, 11 miles northeast of where it had seemed to be unraveling.
