Although Eberechi Eze’s hat-trick was the highlight of the north London derby, Leandro Trossard’s goal and assist emphasized his importance to Arsenal.
Many speculated that Arsenal’s high-profile summer signings could jeopardize the 30-year-old’s position in the squad, but after the victory over Tottenham, manager Mikel Arteta remarked that Trossard had been “forbidden” to leave the club.
According to Arteta, “He’s a player who makes a significant impact for us.” He praised Trossard’s performance against Spurs, stating, “It was one of his best matches; he was aggressive with and without the ball, highly effective, and could have scored additional goals while contributing to numerous positive plays.”
Trossard’s ability to score opening goals has been instrumental for Arsenal. During their dominant first half against Tottenham—where Spurs failed to register a shot—it was Trossard who broke the deadlock in the 36th minute.
Since joining Arsenal in January 2023, 58% of Trossard’s Premier League goals (14 out of 24) have given his team the lead, more than any of his teammates, and ranking him fourth among all top-flight players with at least 20 goals in that period.
Moreover, whenever Trossard scores, Arsenal remains unbeaten—this trend has held true across all 32 matches where he has netted, including 23 in the Premier League (W18, D5).
Trossard has contributed to scoring in all four of Arsenal’s fixtures this November, tallying two goals and three assists. With upcoming challenges against Bayern Munich and Chelsea, Gunners fans will be eager for him to maintain this rhythm.
Do you believe Trossard is receiving adequate recognition for his contributions? With other key players like captain Martin Ødegaard and new signing Viktor Gyökeres returning, should Trossard keep his spot in the starting lineup?
