In the wake of Xabi Alonso’s unexpected exit from Real Madrid, the spotlight has now turned to potential successors for the position at Santiago Bernabeu.

As speculation heats up, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided new insights into the club’s considerations, particularly regarding one prominent name that continues to be linked with the role.

Romano states that Jurgen Klopp is still held in high regard by Real Madrid’s management and board.

While there are currently no ongoing negotiations or formal discussions, the respect for Klopp is undeniable.

The crucial factor, however, does not reside solely with Real Madrid. It largely hinges on whether Klopp chooses to return to coaching.

Klopp’s Decision is Key

As of now, the situation is straightforward: Klopp has not indicated any intention to return to management.

Since departing from Liverpool in 2024, the German coach has intentionally distanced himself from the daily grind of football management.

In January 2025, he took on a senior executive position as Head of Global Football at Red Bull, managing the football operations across its clubs, including RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg.

Currently, he has no plans to leave that role for a return to coaching.

However, Real Madrid is monitoring the situation closely, prepared to act if Klopp expresses any willingness to consider a coaching role again.

Should that happen, Madrid would likely seize the chance, aware that finding a manager of Klopp’s caliber is a rare opportunity.

The urgency surrounding this search is clear, as Los Blancos have officially announced that Alonso left the club just seven months after taking the helm.

In the interim, former club captain Alvaro Arbeloa has been appointed as the acting head coach, though Real Madrid has not disclosed how long he will serve in that capacity.
