As Manchester United prepares to embark on yet another new chapter at Old Trafford, they have unveiled their home kit for the 2026-27 season, ready for action in the Premier League and their return to the UEFA Champions League.
According to ESPN sources, United are set to engage with Michael Carrick regarding his potential continuation as head coach for the upcoming season. While it appears they will look to their former player to perpetuate the positive momentum he has initiated, the club has also drawn inspiration from its historical past for their new jersey design.

The shirt’s design subtly nods to the kits worn by United in the mid-1970s, particularly those from the FA Cup-winning season of 1976-77, a campaign that saw Tommy Docherty’s team triumph over Liverpool in the final.
That season, United finished sixth in the league and faced early eliminations in both the League Cup and UEFA Cup, but these details likely weren’t at the forefront as the jersey was conceived.
The Admiral shirts worn by United during the famous match at Wembley featured striped polo collars and cuffs, a style that has been modernized by Adidas to commemorate the 50th anniversary of that thrilling 2-1 cup victory, where all three goals were scored in just four exhilarating second-half minutes.
The 2026-27 kit maintains a simple and classic look with a vibrant red base complemented by black and white accents. The fold-over collar and sleeve cuffs feature subtle striping, while the only notable detail on the back of the jersey is a small “United” banner positioned above the player’s name.
Adidas has added their trademark oversized stripes down the sleeves, which do not quite harmonize with the otherwise refined aesthetic of the kit.
This new kit could make its debut on Sunday when United hosts Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford, marking their last home game of the 2025-26 season.
