Utrecht has confirmed the acquisition of German youth international Jamie Schuldes on a free transfer from RB Leipzig. The 19-year-old defender has joined the Eredivisie club on a contract that runs until 2030, following the expiration of his deal with Leipzig. During his time in the RB Leipzig academy, Schuldes represented Germany at various youth levels, including U16, U17, U18, and U19. However, he departs Leipzig without having made a first-team appearance.
Moving to Utrecht presents Schuldes with significant opportunities for first-team football. He will be working under head coach Anthony Correia, who has demonstrated success in developing young talent during his tenure at Telstar, guiding the team to a commendable season and steering them clear of relegation from the Eredivisie. Correia’s effective performance earned him the role at Utrecht, taking over from Ron Jans after a season in which the club finished sixth but failed to secure European football through the play-offs, losing to Ajax in the final.
