Vardy Jokes After First…

Jamie Vardy playfully noted that the weather in Bologna reminded him of home, as he netted his first Serie A brace for Cremonese. “If it had just rained a bit, it would have felt like a typical midweek game in the UK,” he quipped.

The former Leicester City player has quickly settled into life in Italy after joining the newly-promoted Cremonese as a free agent, despite the season already being underway.

Turning 39 next month, Vardy certainly celebrated in style on Monday night, playing a key role in the unexpected 3-1 win over Bologna at the Stadio Dall’Ara.

“Honestly, if it had rained a bit more, it would have been just like a typical midweek game in the UK this time of year,” Vardy joked on DAZN Italia.

“It was fantastic to score two goals, but the main priority was securing three points and continuing our progress. This is another important step forward.”

Vardy’s teammates at Cremonese have commented on how he’s surprisingly low-maintenance, as he genuinely seems to relish his new adventure in Italy. Has he observed that Italians tend to complain a bit too much and sometimes overlook the enjoyment of football?

“Not really,” he replied. “At the end of the day, there’s no room for complaints during training. It’s all about commitment to the club and ensuring everyone is on the same page.”

“We’re all working together to ensure we have a successful season by the end.”
