Fede Valverde, the midfielder for Real Madrid, made his mark at the Santiago Bernabeu after the team struggled against Girona in the first half. The Uruguayan added another impressive long-range goal to his tally, though Girona managed to respond effectively.
The Catalan side had restricted Real Madrid to a number of half-chances during the latter part of the match, with Paulo Gazzaniga making an excellent save from Valverde, which stood out in the first half. Girona also created a couple of threatening opportunities and would have been pleased with their performance.

Valverde Puts Real Madrid Ahead
The opening goal was set up by Brahim Diaz, who won a throw-in for Madrid after pressing high up the pitch. He then played the ball to Valverde at the edge of the box, where he unleashed a powerful shot that Gazzaniga would have wanted to stop.
Lemar Stuns the Bernabeu
Just 11 minutes later, Girona found their way back into the match. After increasing their pressure, they were allowed to operate near the penalty box, and Thomas Lemar capitalized by firing a stunning shot into the bottom right corner.
