The chairman of Birmingham City, Tom Wagner, has experienced a stroke, as confirmed by the Championship club.
The 56-year-old American, who took over the club in 2023, is currently recovering and will temporarily step back from his daily duties.

A club statement indicated: “Due to swift medical attention, he received prompt care and is now under excellent supervision. We are happy to report that he is on the road to a good recovery.”
“Tom remains closely linked to the club, and we eagerly anticipate his return.”
“Birmingham City Football Club holds significant importance for Tom and the entire Knighthead team. Their dedication to the club remains steadfast, and our plans and operations will proceed as usual under strong leadership.”
SCL, a subsidiary of Knighthead Capital Management co-established by Wagner, acquired a 45.98% stake in Birmingham in 2023, which was later raised to 96.64% last November.

That same month, the club unveiled plans for a new 62,000-seat stadium.
Last season, the club achieved promotion back to the Championship, and Wagner has expressed aspirations to guide them to the Premier League for the first time since 2011.
Currently, they are positioned 10th in the Championship, just one point shy of the top six, and are set to host Leeds United in the FA Cup fifth round this Sunday.
