Lockyer said the opportunity really excites him, as he’s eager to try new things, push himself in a new setting, and get to work, ready for every challenge ahead.
The centre-back started out at Bristol Rovers before moving to Charlton, then enjoyed a successful five-year stint at Luton, where he helped the Hatters win promotion to the Premier League.
He featured 14 times in the top flight before a lengthy absence from the game.
After being cleared to return, he went back to his first club, Bristol Rovers, making 16 League Two appearances last season.
Lockyer was included in Wales’ squads for Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup, earning his most recent cap against Turkey in 2023.
Speaking in November, he said he hadn’t given up on the dream of representing Wales again.
