Wayne Rooney is widely regarded as the best English footballer of the past three decades, if not longer.
With 120 caps and 53 goals for the England national team, he ranks second in both areas, making a strong case for his legacy. Recent training videos for Soccer Aid showcase that he still possesses impressive skills.

At 40 years old, Rooney participated in a shooting drill and although he’s not in his athletic prime anymore, his touch and shooting ability remain exceptional.
Rooney will take part in his third Soccer Aid event, having previously impressed in 2021 and 2025, where he opened the scoring in a thrilling 5-4 match against the World XI at Old Trafford last year.
This year, he will be joined by fellow stars such as Jermain Defoe, Jill Scott, Robbie Williams, and Olly Murs, but Rooney, the Manchester United legend, will undoubtedly be the focal point at the London Stadium on Sunday, May 31st.
