In the final edition of the Brighton Fans’ Forum, Paul Barber addresses a query regarding matchday ticketing, while Fabian Hurzeler shares his approach to maintaining a cohesive team.
Question: What measures are being implemented to prevent away fans from acquiring tickets in the home section? This practice denies genuine fans a chance to attend.

Paul Barber replied: “Regrettably, a significant number of these tickets are sold by Brighton supporters themselves. Thus, the first step is for us to collectively refrain from doing this.
“We have made it clear that when home fans sell tickets on the black market, it creates discord in the stadium and frustrates our loyal supporters.
“There are also individuals who may live nearby and obtain memberships, making it challenging for us to determine if they truly support our club or others. We can only take action when they reveal their intentions.
“The primary issue remains our own fans reselling tickets. It is essential for us to stop this practice as it does not benefit the team.”
Question: With the recent acquisition of three center-backs, are there plans to alter your tactical approach this season? And considering Carlos Baleba’s injury, will one of them step into the midfield? If not, how will you ensure player satisfaction?

Fabian Hurzeler responded: “It’s indeed a significant challenge for a coach to keep every player content.
“It’s important to acknowledge that, at times, you will disappoint players. However, the key to managing this is through honesty.
“While we had success with a back four, I prefer not to focus too heavily on formations. I believe in working with principles because regardless of whether we utilize a back four or five, players must be equipped to handle various situations. Their ability to do this allows me the flexibility to adjust formations as necessary.
“We will primarily use a back four but having the flexibility is a tremendous asset for me as a coach.
“Regarding Carlos [Baleba]’s injury, I remain optimistic, believing it’s not too severe, and we should see him back in action soon. There’s no need for significant concern about his condition.”
