Why is Randal Kolo Muani…

Tottenham striker Randal Kolo Muani is currently using a protective mask after sustaining a jaw injury.

The injury occurred during a collision with Harry Maguire in a 2-2 match against Manchester United in November.

Fortunately, the France international did not need surgery and has participated in matches against Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, and Fulham while donning a black protective mask that secures around his chin.

Cleared to play once fitted with his mask, the PSG loanee even netted his initial goals for Spurs during the Champions League loss to his parent club in Paris.

Kolo Muani’s France teammate Kylian Mbappe also played while wearing a protective mask at Euro 2024 after fracturing his nose but did not require immediate surgery. However, Mbappe described his experience with the mask as “awful and horrible.”

“I keep switching masks because something always bothers me, and nothing ever feels quite right,” he explained. “It restricts my field of vision, and my sweat makes it uncomfortable. In the first few days, it felt like I was wearing 3D glasses.”

“As soon as I can remove that mask, I will. But for now, it’s not an option. I can’t play without it, and I really dislike it.”
