Real Madrid appears to be on the upswing following a tough few weeks, with Kylian Mbappe playing a pivotal role in their revival. The French superstar has been in outstanding form, netting two more goals in the recent win over Athletic Club.
In a discussion with Diario AS, head coach Xabi Alonso shared his thoughts on the growing comparisons between Mbappe and his former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, suggesting that Mbappe could even surpass the legendary forward.

“Kylian is on the path to making history at Real Madrid in the same way that Cristiano did. His impact on the team, the ambition he brings, and his goal-scoring ability place him among the elite. Working with him daily is a pleasure. His desire not only to excel personally but also to positively influence his teammates is reminiscent of Cristiano. That infectious ambition is a similarity I see. He is currently in phenomenal form.”
“Cristiano is Cristiano, while Kylian is Kylian. Both are exceptional players and hold a historic place in Real Madrid and in football overall. We are fortunate to have Kylian… I mean Cristiano! We must take full advantage of his talents. However, Cristiano will always be Cristiano, and Kylian will always be Kylian.”

Alonso Impressed with Vinicius Junior’s Performance
Alonso also expressed his satisfaction with Vinicius Junior’s recent performances.
“He is currently experiencing a great personal and professional phase; his joy is evident. He put in a stellar performance the other day at San Mames. It’s unfortunate he couldn’t score in Greece or Bilbao, but his smile and interactions bring much-needed energy to the team. It’s essential for us to have him maintain this positive mindset. Let’s hope he can translate those good vibes into goals soon.”
