The United States Soccer Federation has announced the nominees for the 2025 Male and Female Player of the Year, showcasing the top American athletes from the respective national teams.

Fan participation will contribute 15 percent to the overall voting results, with the remainder coming from U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Team players who played in 2025, coaches from professional leagues, media representatives, members of the U.S. Soccer Board of Directors, and the Athletes’ Council.

Finalists for the Player of the Year awards were chosen based on their performances throughout 2025, with a special focus on their contributions to the National Team.

Nominated for Male Player of the Year are U.S. Men’s National Team goalkeeper Matt Freese, defenders Max Arfsten, Alex Freeman, and Chris Richards, as well as midfielder Malik Tillman.

For Female Player of the Year, the nominees include defender Emily Fox, midfielders Sam Coffey and Rose Lavelle, and forwards Alyssa Thompson and Catarina Macario.

Voting is currently open via U.S. Soccer and will close on Friday, December 12. The winners will be announced in January 2025.
