Aberdeen in Contract Talks…

Stephen Robinson is committed to securing a new deal for Graeme Shinnie at Aberdeen, praising the 34-year-old as “arguably the best captain I have ever worked with.”

Shinnie’s contract expires this summer, but Robinson believes he can still make a meaningful impact at Pittodrie and has confirmed that discussions are ongoing.

“I am very determined to keep Graeme Shinnie at the football club,” the Dons manager stated.

“I sincerely believe he is one of the finest captains I have had the privilege to work with, and I have been fortunate to collaborate with numerous outstanding individuals at both international and club levels.”

“He sets the standard for our culture, and we need more individuals like him in the organization. Our current goal is to engage Graeme in conversations about his future and how he fits into our plans.”

“Graeme understands that he won’t play every match for me next season and is realistic about this phase of his career. Nonetheless, having someone like him around is essential, as he can guide younger players, uphold standards, and step in when leadership is needed during key moments in games.”

“I don’t hand out contracts or jobs merely to appease fans or out of sympathy. My approach is different.”

“I provide opportunities to individuals that will contribute to my success and that of Aberdeen, and I am confident that Graeme will have a significant role to play, no matter what capacity that may be.”

Robinson mentioned that he has decided which players he wants to retain and which ones he plans to move on this summer.

When asked about the possibility of bringing in new players, he acknowledged the need to generate funds for the upcoming season.

“I believe we will need to find ways to generate revenue. The board has invested considerable money into the squad over the past few years—millions, in fact—and that level of spending is not sustainable,” he explained.

“We will need to be strategic and intelligent in our approach, but I’ve successfully managed with much less financial backing in the past, so I’m confident we can assemble a competitive squad.”
