Portsmouth’s captain, Marlon Pack, has officially signed a new one-year contract to stay at Fratton Park for the 2026-27 season.
The 35-year-old midfielder netted two goals in 34 league matches over the past season, helping the south coast club secure its Championship status with an 18th-place finish.

Pack began his career at Portsmouth and went on to have stints at Cheltenham Town, Bristol City, and Cardiff City before returning to his hometown club in 2022.
“It was a very straightforward decision for the club to extend Marlon’s contract, and we are thrilled that he has signed,” said Pompey manager John Mousinho to the club’s website.
“He is a vital part of our squad and has played a significant role in both our promotion to the Championship in 2024 and our continued presence there.”

Clearly, Marlon Pack possesses many qualities that could make him an excellent coach one day. However, that path can wait for at least another year, considering his strong performances this season.
Pack participated in 34 of Pompey’s 46 league games, including starting all five pivotal matches during the critical stretch from Good Friday that ensured their survival.
He remains in great shape and has always exhibited outstanding technical skills.
While the club is likely to bring in another central midfielder this summer, this does not imply that Pack will not continue to make significant contributions next season. He is the model professional and the homegrown player that every team aspires to have.
