According to reports from Foot Mercato, three Belgian clubs are interested in signing Coventry forward Norman Bassette. The former KV Mechelen player spent the last season out on loan, starting at Reims during the first half before moving to Kaiserslautern in Bundesliga 2. The Belgian clubs reportedly interested in acquiring Bassette include Sint Truiden, Westerlo, and Standard Liege.
Bassette’s career began at Caen, and he joined KV Mechelen for the 2023/2024 season, where he played 23 matches and netted five goals. This performance led to a transfer to Coventry the following summer. In his debut season in English football, he appeared in 29 games and managed to score twice. During his time in France, he tallied two goals in 13 outings for Reims, while in Germany, he scored twice in 16 appearances for Kaiserslautern.
With Coventry now moving up to the Premier League and Bassette under contract until 2028, it seems likely that the club will prefer to loan the 21-year-old out again to gain more playing time and develop his confidence further.
