Aston Villa is unlikely to secure a permanent deal for Douglas Luiz from Juventus. While Luciano Spalletti appears willing to offer the Brazilian midfielder another opportunity in Turin, Damien Comolli is reportedly inclined to entertain offers for the 28-year-old, according to Gazzetta.

Douglas Luiz is expected to return to Juventus in the upcoming summer, as Aston Villa seems hesitant to make his transfer permanent for the €25 million fee.

Douglas Luiz Set to Rejoin Juventus from Aston Villa

The Brazilian midfielder had a challenging loan spell in the Premier League, initially with Nottingham Forest and subsequently with The Villans. He remains contracted to Juventus until June 2029.

After a disappointing first season at Juventus, where he failed to score or assist in 27 appearances during the 2024-25 season, Douglas Luiz left Allianz Stadium on loan last summer.

According to Gazzetta, Spalletti is keen to reintegrate Douglas Luiz and give him a second chance in the upcoming pre-season, although Comolli does not share the same vision.

Spalletti understands that the absence of Champions League football in the 2026-27 season will impact Juventus’ attractiveness to potential signings. This reality is underscored by Bernardo Silva‘s choice to join Atletico Madrid instead of opting for the Old Lady.

Comolli, on the other hand, prioritizes listening to offers for the 28-year-old, who only managed one goal and two assists in a total of 34 appearances for Forest and Aston Villa in the 2025-26 season.

As Juventus faces financial challenges from lost Champions League revenue, they will inevitably need to offload some players, with Comolli viewing Douglas Luiz as a candidate to help improve the club’s financial situation.
