Ringmahon Rangers AFC has received a five-year ban from the FAI Senior Cup and a fine of €5,000 (£4,267) for withdrawing from their upcoming second-round match against Bohemians.
Additionally, an Independent Disciplinary Committee has imposed a three-year suspension on the Cork club from competing in the FAI Intermediate Cup.
Originally, Ringmahon Rangers was scheduled to face Bohemians, who currently hold the second position in the Premier Division, on July 19.
This match was to take place at the home ground of Cobh Ramblers, St Colman’s Park, since Rangers’ own facility does not meet the FAI Cup’s requirements.
The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) issued a statement emphasizing that all clubs must fulfill their fixture obligations in accordance with FAI Disciplinary Regulations and competition rules. The statement reads:
“The FAI is dedicated to maintaining the integrity of its competitions and ensuring that all fixtures are honored in the best interest of participating clubs, players, officials, match officials, supporters, and the broader football community.”
“In line with the FAI Disciplinary Regulations, this decision can be appealed.”
